In the past year I got one but it is very devoid of markings on it. Serial Number is RA XXXXX and on the top of the breech is PNA-R.
Other than that, there are no markings visible except the same Serial Number stamped in the butt stock side. There they put it as A. Over the serial number. Any idea who made it or when.
Only the long rifle was in the scope of the agreement: no short rifle or carbine of Arisaka Carcano model are known. It is known that Beretta realized an interesting prototype using the Mauser magazine instead of the Mannlicher system and based upon the short rifle model 38, chambered for the 7.35x51 cartridge.
6.52 Carcano round fits it. You may end up having to slug the bore. These were originally made in 7.35, many (except those provided to Finland) converted back to 6.5x52, and some converted post WWII to 8mm Mauser. Oswald's Carcano was a model 38 not a 91/38.
In March 1963, Lee Harvey Oswald purchased a '6.5 mm Italian carbine,' later improperly called a Mannlicher–Carcano, through mail order, for $19.95 ($155 in 2015 dollars).18 The advertisement only specified a '6.5 Italian Carbine' and actually shows a Carcano model M91 TS, which was the 36' Carcano carbine model sold through the ad when it was originally placed. However, from a time 11 months before Oswald placed his order, the Chicago sporting goods store from which he purchased it had been shipping the slightly longer (40.2') Model 91/38 under the same ad, and this is the weapon Oswald received. Looks like it could be a 'Moschetto TS 38' in 6.5 mm or 7.35mm or 7.92mm?
I agree to slug the barrel as it could be any of 3 calibers. It is not the Oswald M38 short rifle ( I use Google translate on link ) Due to the link you posted, it looks like the actual marks are FNA-B. That would put it as a F.N.A.
Brescia 1942 production. It for sure is 6.5 as a 6.5 will not enter the muzzle. A 6.5 should enter a 7.3 or 7.9.
Thanks everyone!

We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None Our Assessment: This Italian Carcano is a Model 1938 Short Rifle chambered in 7.35x53mm. It has seen better days but still has markings on the metal including a Finnish Army property mark “SA in a box”. Prior to 1938 Italian Carcanos were chambered in 6.5x52mm. The 7.35x53mm variation lasted until 1940 when the Italian switched back to 6.5x52mm.
This M38 was issued to the Finnish Military and probably saw use against the Russians during the Winter War or Continuation War. For more on these Carcano rifles see pages 186 to 197 of Joe Puleo’s book, Bolt Action Military Rifles of the World. Some info from Wikipedia: “After reports of inadequate performance of the 6.5×52mm Mannlicher-Carcano at both short and long ranges during the campaigns in Italian North Africa (1924-1934), and the Second Italo-Abyssinian War (1934), the Italian army introduced a new short rifle in 1938, the Modello 1938, together with a new cartridge in 7.35. In addition to the slightly larger caliber, Italian ordnance designers introduced a spitzer-type bullet for the new cartridge, with the tip filled with aluminum to produce an unstable (tumbling) projectile upon impact in soft tissue.Although the intention was to create a more powerful and precise rifle cartridge, the decision to adopt a lighter bullet than in the 6.5 mm Carcano, and various design problems of the 91/38 rifle, didn't permit the cartridge to have the intended successApproximately 94,500 7.35mm Modello 1938 rifles were shipped to Finland, where they were known as Terni carbines. They were primarily used by security and line-of-communications troops during the Winter War of 1939–1940, though some frontline troops were issued the weapon“.
